17th HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition)

Steve Hodgkins, our General Manager for Sales and Marketing, attended the 17th HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) last 27-31 October 2015.  Also in 2018, Steve and Scott Enfield attended the fair. The fair hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) attracted more than 2,530 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions. New companies from Chile, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles and the United Arab Emirates made their first appearances at the event. The newest innovations in all areas of the lighting industry were on display in various thematic zones. The LED & Green Lighting Zone featured energy-saving and other environmentally friendly products, while zones dedicated to Smart Lighting & Solutions and Advertising Lighting catered to specific industry sectors. The Hall of Aurora showcased some of the biggest industry names together in one convenient place.

Seminars, forums and other events throughout the fair featured new business opportunities and market information. A seminar on “The Internet of Things: Lighting’s Next Revolution” explored the application of new technologies in the lighting industry. The Global Lighting Forum on the fair’s second day presented industry leaders to discuss recent business trends. Buyer forums and product presentations throughout the fair gave buyers the opportunity to see these developments in action.

World of Outdoor Lighting & Lighting Accessories was staged at the AsiaWorld-Expo from 28 to 31 October, featuring some 160 exhibitors displaying the latest products and technology in such areas as street lighting, construction lighting and high bay lighting. Seminars on recent advancements in outdoor lighting, as well as the latest standards and regulations for LED products were shared by industry experts on the first and second days of the fair.

Steve returned home with tired eyes from examining so many LED lighting solutions, but with strengthened relationships with our existing suppliers and developers, as well as new relationships that will ensure that Matrix LED is at the forefront of lighting technology. According to Steve, the more noticeable advances and trends, and ones which Matrix LED has been closely involved with, are the innovative increases in lumens per watt from market-ready LED lights and advances in multi-channel dimming control technology using APP, touch panel, sensor and remote controller – where single lights, in a room full of lights, can be controlled through custom applications.
