Architectural Lighting
LED Lighting is changing the look of city skylines across the world. This new technology is allowing designers to make a quantum shift in architectural lighting design by utlilising the vibrancy and movement that LED lighting offers. The new possibilities in colour and range that LEDs offer allow designers a much greater control whilst also offering an energy efficient option.
Conventional lighting uses filters to produce different coloured lights which is a waste of energy and provides just a single colour solution. LEDs use colour changing RGB ( red, green and blue), combinations of which will produce every color in the spectrum directly from the LED light source. LED’s allow the designer a freedom to change, explore and adapt the colour palette to suit, creating drama and interest.
The possibilities for architectural detail and applications are endless. We are seeing manufacturers beginning to use coloured LEDs in such applications producing millions of colours glowing across the night city scape.
It is becoming more and more common to see skyscrapers lit up, bridges glowing various hues and colours and other city facades lighting up with low energy LED lighting. Not only producing a stunning light show, LEDs are cost effective, energy efficient and a greener option.
This new multi-billion dollar industry is gaining momentum everyday as designers, engineers and manufacturers make the leap into this next generation technology.
